Mythological Creatures

A recent email conversation with a visitor has inspired me to bump up my re-working of the Mythological Creatures section to add sources to each page, and to do more research as I'm doing so. I've already started uploading the completed pages, and hope to be done within the month (job-hunting / moving in permitting, of course!).

That being said, if there is an entry that you have questions about, or have better / different information about, I'd love to know! You can email me at either: clio@musesrealm.net or musesrealm@yahoo.com.

These are the main resources I currently have at my disposal:
  • Conway, D.J. Magical, Mystical Creatures. Llewellyn Publications: St. Paul, MN, 1996.
  • Gonzalez-Wippler, Migene. The Complete Book of Spells, Ceremonies & Magic. Llewellyn Publications: St. Paul, MN, 2000.
  • Grimal, Pierre. The Dictionary of Classical Mythology. Malden, MA: Blackwell Publishers Inc., 1996. (Complete Edition)
  • Illes, Judika. Encyclopedia of Spirits: The Ultimate Guide to the Magic of Fairies, Genies, Demons, Ghosts, Gods, and Goddesses. Harper Collins: New York, 2009.
  • Long, Gareth. Encyclopedia of Monsters, Mythical Creatures, and Fabulous Beasts. WEBSITE. --> not currently available
  • Matthews, John & Caitlin. The Element Encyclopedia of Magical Creatures. Barnes & Noble Publishing, Inc.: New York, 2005.
  • Mercantante, Anthony S. Who's Who in Egyptian Mythology. Barnes & Noble Books: New York, 1995.
  • Rose, Carol. Giants, Monsters & Dragons: An Encyclopedia of Folklore, Legend, and Myth. W. W. Norton & Company: New York, 2000.
  • Rose, Carol. Spirits, Fairies, Leprechauns, and Goblins: An Encyclopedia. W. W. Norton & Company: New York, 1996.
  • Wilkinson, Richard H. The Complete Gods and Goddesses of Ancient Egypt. Thames & Hudson, Ltd.: London, 2003.
  • Zimmerman, J.E. Dictionary of Classical Mythology. New York: Bantam Books (Harper & Row), 1964.

If there are others that you suggest that I can find either at my local library or at a bookstore, I'd love to hear about them!
