When you see this, post your favorite poem in your journal

I have several, but this one is the shortest (and the only one I have memorised):

My Sister Ate An Orange by Jack Prelutsky

My sister ate an orange,
I'm astonished that she did,
she swallowed it completely,
she's a disconcerting kid.

My sister ate an orange,
first she chewed it for a while,
then digested it entirely
with a silly sort of smile.

My sister ate an orange,
it's a novel thing to do,
then she also ate a yellow
and a purple and a blue.

It's that time again for the music meme. I got tagged via email by someone not on my friends list, so this is going to remain public for a bit.

1. Open up iTunes, put it on random, and press play.
2. Write down the first line or two from the first 20 songs.
3. Post and let everyone you know guess what song the lines come from.
4. Cross out the songs when someone guesses correctly, and give the first correct guesser credit.
5. Tag 10 friends to make their own list.
Extra credit can be had for giving the next line of a song

Note: I've (again) taken out all of the songs that are instrumentals and those not in English.

I'm not tagging anyone. If you wanna do it, do it.

Who didn't I steal this from?...

1. Go to
2. Put in Username: nycareers Password: landmark
3. Take their "Career Matchmaker" questions
4. Post the top ten results

1. Historian
2. Music Teacher / Instructor
3. Musician
4. Computer Trainer
5. Composer
6. Furniture Finisher
7. Archaeologist
8. Casting Director
9. Musical Instrument Builder and Repairer
10. Elementary School Teacher

Um...yeah. I think the only thing I haven't done on this list is finish furniture. Oh, and I'm not a Casting Director, unless you count choosing which students should play in which instrument sections and choosing which students should/shouldn't sit next to other students.

And now I'm off to grade some music history papers...

I'm off to the second Back to School Night of the week (last night was for the elementary school, tonight is for the upper school) in a few. I got tagged to do this by the lovely [ profile] recycledfaery, so I'm going to before I forget. And it's a nice distraction. :D

I'll make an actual update and reply to posts tomorrow after school. {{hugs}} in the meantime.

The sorting hat says that I belong in Hufflepuff!

Said Hufflepuff, "I'll teach the lot, and treat them just the same."

Hufflepuff students are friendly, fair-minded, modest, and hard-working. A well-known member was Cedric Digory, who represented Hogwarts in the most recent Triwizard Tournament.

My relatives are fishing today, so I have a little bit of time to be online. I'm going to try and get a bit done today with the Rome Page, since I got some books in the mail yesterday from about Roman Cooking. Now if only I could stop squeeing over Harry Potter...

Looking Back at 2006.... )

Our power and internet connection are a bit wonky from the storm, so if you don't hear from me again today...I'll catch up with y'all tomorrow. I have an update ready (LJ icons and wallpapers), but I think I'll wait until things are basically back to normal before I try and upload things to the 'Realm.
muses_realm: (Barcode)
Yep, another meme. Sorry. I haven't really been online much for the past week, so I'm trying to make up for it tonight. I think after this I'll save the others until tomorrow.

...So I did too.

I'm taking a bit of a break from perparing for school. After browsing the Friends List, I came up with this:

My Personality
Openness To Experience
Test Yourself Compare Yourself View Full Report

MySpace Codes, MySpace Layouts and hi5 by Pulseware Survey Software

School is going well so far. I made a post about it on my Personal Journal, if you wanna read it.

Book Meme

I can't remember if I've done this or not, so here goes:

Stolen from [ profile] guttermaiden (among others)

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.
5. Don't search around and look for the coolest book you can find. Do what's actually next to you.

"These commands work on greyscale and 16 million colour (24-bit) images only."
~From Paint Shop Pro 9 User Guide

Caroline's Note: Okay, so the closest book was a guide to El Prado, and had a nice picture on page 123 (no text). My second closest was an astronomy book, and had Star Charts on page 123 (labels, but no sentences). My answer is from the third closest book.

I'm catching up on things, and decided to take a quiz:

You are a Folkie. Good for you.

What kind of Sixties Person are you?
brought to you by Quizilla

The person in the picture is Phil Ochs, one of my all-time favourite artists. His song, "Draft Dodger Rag" was the first song I ever learned how to sing. I was three, and, since Dad loved (and played guitar like) Phil Ochs we could do duets. The picture above is from his I Ain't Marchin' Anymore album.

Art Meme

This fits into the theme of the 'Realm, so I'm going to make this post public.

You have the Vermeer girl look. A Vermeer girl
appealed mostly to the old masters of the Dutch
school, who painted pictures of everyday life
as they knew it. With her fine, fair skin, she
suited a light, natural, dewy make-up. The
Vermeer Girl loved homely things, such as
homemade soaps and candles. The following
artists would have liked to paint you; Pieter
de Hooch and Jan Vermeer.

'Pretty As A Picture' - Which Artist Would Paint You?
brought to you by Quizilla

Yay!! One of my favourite artists would paint me!! I think I'm going to go off and read Girl with a Pearl Earring again now.
